Furniture for your Holiday Home

Some customers are lucky enough to have holiday homes in the UK, overseas and on the seas! So, over the years, Furl products have made it to as far away as Australia, New Zealand, Panama, Puerto Rico, New York, California, Paris and popular European holiday locations like Val-de-Saire, Monaco and all over Provence. One of our most popular holiday destinations is not a place at all, but rather a ship, a pretty large one. ‘The World‘ is a privately owned cruise liner with apartments, each individually owned and furnished; we’re delighted to have supplied 10% of the ships apartments with Furl products over the years, a challenging task where we have to be at a specific destination on a given date and time for the few hours it docks, always fun! (and yes, we’ve missed it more than a few times).

The World Ship in Malaga, Spain

Our customers love the quality and functionality of products they enjoy at home and, naturally,  want the same practicality and comfort whilst away; we can’t blame them and we are only too happy to help with transport when and solutions as needed.  There’s a reason people always choose the same hotel chain when travelling; it’s the familiarity of the space, the room and mostly (we think) the bed.  So, for the best night’s sleep, where possible, have the same mattress and pillows in your second home, and you’ll sleep as well as you do at home.

A recent project was to furnish an apartment in Malaga, Spain, and with some carefully chosen pieces, we’ve really helped increase the space whilst maintaining a calm, sophisticated place to live. We’re not interior designers, but we do understand space and how to make better use of it with great furniture.

We made a special size bed for a long thin bedroom

In the Master bedroom, our Air Ottoman Bed was chosen.  As you can see, it’s a very narrow space, we made the bed a custom size of 150 x 190 to allow more room at the foot of the bed, the Abstract Headbaord is fitted to the wall, again to maximise space.   Air, with its tall legs, maintains the visual flow of the floor underneath so your space looks bigger whilst not compromising on the storage.

Do you see it? What do you think of the use of mirrors to create the illusion?

The living space is open plan but with a huge problem.  In the centre of the room, there is a huge pillar. It would seem that the architects in Spain in the 90s didn’t consider the implications of this, so there it is. You can’t remove it, so we created a book shelf that acts as a room divider but is really an illusion to hide the pillar. Did you spot it?

Now the pillar becomes functional; it creates this cosy dining area which is close to the kitchen and separated from the kids, who may be watching something sitting on the sofas.   We selected Eclipse as the perfect table for the space, a round table that seats 4 or 5 comfortably and extends to sit 6 to 8 guests.

Pretty Pink Nuvo Sofa Bed

The second bedroom is multifunctional, a little girls’ bedroom and space for guests.   The pretty pink sofa is the perfect place to sit and read together at bedtime, yet when needed for guests, it converts into a full-size bed that’s really comfortable, every for extended stays.   The model chosen is Nuvo, chosen because it’s got the lowest seat height in our range, which for little people is perfect; it also visually takes up less space in the room, especially if you’ve got lower ceilings.

We’d love to help you make your holiday home more practical and beautiful.    Adding a sofa bed, for instance, creates an extra room, which, if you choose to rent, can add huge value and convenience to guests. A storage bed is the perfect place for you to store and lock your personal items inside, away from guests, or offer to your guests to store their luggage. The options to impress your guests and make your home more inviting are endless.
