King is the size most of our wood beds are made in, and it's easy to see why. It fits a standard UK bedroom, gives two people proper room, and the storage underneath is big enough for spare duvets, suitcases and everything that usually lives on top of the wardrobe. Lift the base and it's all there, with no drawers to clear space for.
Most wooden bed frames with storage use drawers, which need clear floor space beside the bed and only reach the outer edges. An ottoman works differently. Gas struts lift the whole base, mattress and all, so you can use every centimetre underneath: up to 40cm deep across the full 150 x 200cm. It opens from the foot end as standard, or from the side if that suits your room. And because the frame is real oak or walnut veneer on a stable core, it won't warp or move with the seasons the way solid timber can.
