A double is the bed for a guest room, a first flat or a bedroom where every centimetre counts. Make it an ottoman and the whole space under the mattress becomes storage, so the chest of drawers can go. In real oak or walnut, it looks like a piece of furniture rather than a storage solution.
Most wooden double beds with storage use drawers, which need clear floor space beside the bed, and in a smaller bedroom that space is hard to find. An ottoman works differently. Gas struts lift the whole base, mattress and all, so you can use every centimetre underneath: up to 40cm deep across the full 135 x 190cm. It opens from the foot end as standard, or from the side if that suits your room. And because the frame is real oak or walnut veneer on a stable core, it won't warp or move with the seasons the way solid timber can.

Oak is light and bright, and helps a small room feel bigger. Walnut is darker and richer, with a grain that runs from chocolate to honey. Both are real FSC-certified veneer on a stable core, which won't move with the seasons the way solid timber does. That matters on a bed with a lifting base.
