Side by Side isn't a separate product — it's a configuration available on every Furl sofa bed (with one exception). Two proper single beds, each with its own mattress, operated independently. One person can go to bed while the other stays up. Choose a different firmness for each side. Or push them together as a double.

Most twin sofa beds are one mattress that splits. Side by Side is two. Each bed opens on its own. One partner can go to bed at nine, the other at midnight — no zips to wrestle with, nothing to wake the person already sleeping.

Looks and sits like any Furl sofa. Proper seat depth, full cushions, no sofa-bed giveaways.

Two beds by night.
Each half opens independently with a simple lift. One person, one motion, no disturbance to the other side.

Together or apart.
Push them together as a double. Pull them apart for two singles. Different firmnesses on each side if you choose.

Can each bed have a different mattress?
Yes. It's part of the beauty of Side by Side. Each side is a fully independent bed, so you can pair a firm mattress with a softer one, or mix types entirely — pocket sprung on one side, memory foam on the other. Four comfort options to choose from, and you're not tied to having the same on both.
Does Side by Side cost extra?
Yes. Side by Side is a custom build — not a standard configuration — so it's priced accordingly. Your sales consultant will walk you through the costs based on the model, size, mattress choice, and fabric. Get in touch via the showroom, phone, or a video appointment for a full quote.
When used as a double, is there a gap between the two mattresses?
Yes — and honestly, that's part of the point. Side by Side gives you two separate beds that can be pushed together. There's always a gap where they meet. For couples who actively want their own side, their own mattress, their own space, the gap is a feature, not a flaw. It's why most people choose Side by Side in the first place.
Can one bed be a different size from the other?
Yes. Most customers specify two singles, but because Side by Side is custom-built, any combination of sizes is possible. Two singles, asymmetric pairings, anything in between — talk to your sales consultant and we'll work it out.
Can I still use it as a regular sofa?
Yes. Closed, it's a Furl sofa — full seat depth, proper cushions, no giveaway that it converts. The Side by Side mechanism doesn't compromise the sofa function.
Is delivery and installation the same as a standard sofa bed?
Yes. Side by Side is delivered in sections and assembled in your home by our five-star installation team, the same as every Furl sofa bed. We'll show you how both beds operate before we leave.
Which models can't be configured as Side by Side?
Only Piano. Its click-clack mechanism is a single folding surface that can't be split into two independent beds. Every other sofa bed in our range offers Side by Side as a configuration option.
Is the 60-day trial available on Side by Side?
No. Side by Side is a custom-built product, made to your exact specification — so our standard 60-day trial doesn't apply. That's why we strongly recommend booking a showroom visit before ordering. You can sit on, open, and properly try a Side by Side in person, and our consultants can walk you through every option.
