how our products are made
Lucas putting the finishing touches to the inside storage

Here you can see Lucas putting the finishing touches to the inside storage area of our Mirage storage bed, it’s a complex design that requires great skill and accuracy.  After building the storage tray, it has to be painted, an equally skilled job.

Simon, Head of Production – Joined us in September 2020.

Simon is in charge of every operation relating to the making of your bed or sofa. Not only does Simon ensure the smooth operation of his teams, but he’s also hands-on and spends as much at his bench working as the rest of his team.

Mick, Woodworking and Maintenance

Mick, Woodworking and Maintenance – Joined us in September 2020.

Here Mick is taking a solid block of Oak and ‘turning’ it into feet for or Air Storage Bed; once the correct size and shape, they are then lacquered or painted to the customer’s colour choice.

Roman, Upholstery – Joined October 2014.

Here Roman is putting the final touches to the back of a Duette Sofa Bed, The upholsterer’s job is crucial to the quality of the finished product.  The frame having been built, the fabric components sewn, it’s now the upholsters job to marry all of these components together and produce the final parts, ready for final assembly and delivery to your home.

The Furl Upholstery Department.

We’re a small team of highly skilled, passionate, hard workers.  We don’t set times for how long a product takes to make. Instead, we insist on quality, which takes a little longer.

The Furl Woodworking Department.

It’s an amazing process to see a piece of wood slowly turn into a frame that ultimately becomes your bed or sofa.  These people make it happen with their skill and dedication to their craft.

The Furl Woodworking Department

Furniture making is a tough but rewarding job, and as you can see, most processes in the making of beds and sofas are still done by hand – we use CNC machines for fabric and wood cutting because it significantly reduces waste and improves accuracy.

Look out for the next post, where we will show you the fabric and sewing part of Furl.
