As David Norman tells it, entrepreneurship has been in his blood from the beginning. He launched his first venture — a computer parts business — right out of school and ran it successfully for nearly two decades. But it was the search for a bed that sparked something entirely new.
Unable to find a storage bed that met his standards — something stylish, functional, and well-built — David didn’t settle. Instead, he got inspired. He designed and built one himself. Then another. Word spread quickly, and soon friends, family, and strangers all wanted in. What began as a personal project soon became The Storage Bed Company.
That was just the beginning. The business evolved and rebranded as Furl — a name that now represents a new era of beautifully designed, multifunctional furniture built for modern living.
Today, Furl operates from two elegant showrooms across London, plus a compact ShowPod in Nottingham, where visitors can experience the full collection of space-saving furniture. Everything is crafted in our own Nottinghamshire workshop and delivered with care across the UK and mainland Europe — including to second homes and holiday properties.
From design to final installation, every part of the process stays in our hands. Our in-house delivery team assembles each piece in the room it’s meant for — no awkward lifts or last-minute headaches. We even offer bespoke sizing to ensure your new bed or sofa fits perfectly into your home and your life.
