Here at Furl, we are always delighted to partner with designers and creators who are as passionate about style, comfort, or space-saving as we are. In this cases, we are pleased to announce that we are selling online and in our showrooms a range of exciting products by a German brand, VLUV.

VLUV is the retail brand of a family firm, HOCK Design GmbH & Co. KG, founded in 2009 by Kristof Hock, a designer in the “Oberbergische” mountain region of Germany, not far from Cologne.

VLUV create, design, and make ⏤ same as we do, in their own factory ⏤ an exciting, innovative, and beautifully-crafted range of balance capsules, sitting balls, and cushions.

The VLUV Story

Healthy sitting means active sitting. Things started rolling about 30 years ago with the use of PVC exercise balls in many offices and homes. But exercise balls had disadvantages. They rolled away, were sticky, unwieldy and unsightly.

At VLUV, we have been revolutionizing the market since the beginning of 2015, turning a rubber ball into a comfortable piece of seating furniture and minimalist design object.

Since then, we have become the world’s leading supplier of air-filled seating with innovations such as PIL&PED fabric-covered balance cushions and KAPSUL balance stools.

HOCK Design GmbH & Co. KG, known as VLUV, was founded in 2009 by Kristof Hock, a talented designer, inventor, and owner. He started at home at the living room table. An old moped shed was production site and warehouse at the same time. Today, our team has grown to 7 employees, and the company keeps on growing as our products become more popular.

Our company headquarters with extensive office and warehouse space is idyllically located in a more than 100 year old factory, 40km east of Cologne. Here we develop, design and distribute our stylish products for ergonomics, movement and sports.

At VLUV, we place as much emphasis on aesthetics, quality and sustainability as we do on a relaxed working atmosphere. We pay attention to the most sustainable detailed solutions possible in all areas.

Our manufacturers are strictly selected according to quality, environmental and social standards such as ISO or BSCI certification. Our fabrics have without exception Oekotex100 standard (meaning they’re the most durable you can buy, comparable to Furl fabrics).

Our packaging is constantly being improved. For example, at the beginning we used 6 plastic bags when we introduced our BOL seatballs and now we have reduced this to only one absolutely indispensable one.

VLUV BOL, The Sitting Ball

VLUV BOL is the first inflatable seating balls covered by upholstery fabric. They are made for upright, healthy seating. BOL includes the innovative UPP weight, as also featured in the popular VLUV product of the same name.

BOL features:

  • How good (or not) a night’s sleep you get on a sofa bed

  • How easy (or not) a sofa bed can go from being a sofa to a bed and back again

  • How much space a sofa bed takes up when it’s opened up as a bed

  • How good a sofa bed looks as a sofa

  • The thickness of the mattress and overall sleep experience
